NAME: Moose
AGE: 14 Yrs old BREED: Palomino - Mammoth Mule HANDS: 17 Hands tall INJURIES/RESTRICTIONS: No injuries as of now but Moose is in desperate need to have his feet cared for. In order for the farrier to address his issues he will need some medication which is why we are looking for a sponsor for Moose! HISTORY: Moose is a joy to get to know, he is learning trust and that humans can be good. Prior to coming to MJM Moose was rescued from a kill pen. Luckily she was able to save his life and he later made his way to us for halter training and was later surrendered to MJM. We continue to work on trust and being touched, having worked so hard in the past and being treated so poorly he has to learn to trust humans again and he needs our help. A sponsor could make a huge difference for Moose as he has medical needs we need to address but is difficult to do without the proper medication and equipment to get him there safely. Any donations or sponsorship towards Moose will help speed that process up. For now, he is allowing gentle (slow) hugs and some calm body scratches and we’re enjoying every minute of it. SKILL SET LEVEL: Moose is working on building trust and a bond with us as well as his place in the herd. He is unable to offer rides and has some work ahead of him and then he will let us know if he’d like to offer rides or just be beautiful and a protector of the herd. Either way we’re blessed to have him with us. DIET: Moose eats a bit more than the others as you could imagine. Not only for his size but also to safely gain weight and get him to his best body condition. He eats a mixture of grains, alfalfa pellets, beet pulp and weight gain supplements twice a day and hay 24/7. Sponsorship for Moose also helps us maintain his special diet and get his body condition where it should be, faster. Thank you for considering sponsoring Moose! MORE ABOUT Moose: Although Moose was no doubt overworked and under appreciated in his past life he is finding his own way in our herd. He was used to being with his buddy when he came to MJM for halter training and when his buddy left he had a herd to get to know. He stood off in the corner alone for a few days and eventually we found him rolling around in the dirt (that’s a positive sign that he feels happy and safe enough to do that among other horses) and pairing up with the others. He now has a lady friend….ironically named “Lady” and they compliment each other nicely. They keep each other company without being buddy sour and that’s a beautiful bond. You really should come and meet Moose, he’s likely only a 15 minute drive from you and he’s worth every second of your time! P.s. He’s a HUGE treat lover ;)
